I carry a large ALICE so when I take my AK and 12 gauge it makes it kind of awkward to carry. My AK always falls off my shoulder when I'm trying to navigate. Edit: Just figured out a good way. I tightened my sling and put it over the top of the frame and let it hang down over the pack. Works good and is pretty secure.

In my opinion, military packs are for young really fit guys carrying 80+ lbs into battle. That's not me. I also don't need to jump out of a C-130 with a mortar.

I would add a back pad to it as well. Find an old foam sleeping pad and cut to fit. If you have any left over use it on that kidney pad.
